Welcome to Woolly Bugger Farm

Nestled deep in the rolling hills and lush valleys of South Africa's Limpopo province, and halfway between Johannesburg and the Kruger National Park, our 270 hectare off-grid guest farm is the ideal destination for those seeking wide open spaces, untouched natural beauty, and a taste of old fashioned farm life.

Accommodation

Six self-catering stone cottages, sleeping between two and six people each, provide all the cosy comforts of rural living. Each cottage is furnished with a fully-equipped kitchen, premium linens and towels, an indoor fireplace and outdoor braai, WiFi, a covered patio, and sustainable solar power. Our accommodation is pet friendly.

Farm Activities

Our farm offers outdoor activities to suit every member of the family, whether you want to relax in nature’s wonder or enjoy some rural adventure. This includes fishing in two fully-stocked dams, walking and mountain biking trails, bird and game watching, treasure hunts, an entertainment lapa, and more.

Your Hosts

Woolly Bugger Farm is proudly owned by the Mullers, a South African family with a deep love for farm life and the African bush. After 12 years living and working abroad, our family has spent the last decade slowly transforming what was once a neglected rural property into a vibrant off-grid farm and eco-tourism business.

Where We Are

Woolly Bugger Farm is located in the rural hamlet of Tonteldoos, a remote and secluded area of the South African highlands. Halfway between Johannesburg and the Kruger National Park, Tonteldoos lies outside of the popular town of Dullstroom and straddles the Limpopo-Mpumalanga border. With its remoteness and challenging accessibility, the area offers untouched wilderness, tranquility, and a sense of security difficult to find anywhere else in South Africa.

How to Get Here

Our off-grid farm can be accessed via a harsh 27 km dirt road beginning in Dullstroom. While a regular vehicle can normally navigate the road, we highly recommend a high clearance vehicle (or rental cars) and careful driving. After heavy rains, muddy conditions and submerged roads occasionally make a 4x4 vehicle necessary. Gear up for an adventurous journey, and please feel free to contact us before your departure for an update on the road’s condition.

What Our Guests Say

Beautiful farm with lovely walking trails. A peaceful place to unwind and decompress. Gravel road from Dullstroom is something to behold, drive a bigger vehicle or something high off the ground.

Lovely location, dams, brilliant hikes, mountain biking opportunity. From a stay point of view this was a great location and it really is ideal to get away. My husband loves fishing and spent a large portion of time fishing at the dam. We hiked extensively and travelled on mountain bikes. We would go there again.

Gorgeous scenery. Feels like a little slice of paradise. We didn’t fish but could physically see tonnes of fish in the finishing lakes. The owners handled us like family. Can’t recommend enough.
— Devon
What an absolutely incredible place! We stayed in Ginger Quill and we absolutely adored the stand alone unit which had privacy and views that were out of this world. The unit is spacious and has all that you would ever need. Bed is super comfortable and the fire place is such a wonderful addition to the cosiness of this gem.

The best choice we could have made. If you can not relax here, well then the problem is not with your surroundings. We stayed in the Half-hog. Don’t be fooled by its rustic appearance. A 4x4, bakkie or high car with a high road clearance is recommended.

The natural beauty of the area is exceptional. Both the geology and vegetation is unique and in its natural unspoiled state. It’s is well worth a visit for any nature lover. Add to that peace and quit, comfortable clean facilities and it makes for the perfect getaway.
